What is sleep apnea exactly? Sleep apnea is the closing of your airways while you are sleeping. The inability to breathe while sleeping means that no oxygen is being pumped through your body. Signs of sleep apnea include: snoring, waking up gasping for air or coughing, and/or not feeling rested after a good night’s sleep. If left untreated sleep apnea can lead to serious health issues including: weight gain, high blood pressure, and even heart attacks. In order to properly diagnose sleep apnea you will need to participate in a sleep study. If you think you or a loved one has sleep apnea visit our office to schedule a sleep study today.
